Columbus Launches 80m Yacht Dragon

March 21, 2019

Italian yacht builder Columbus Yachts (part of Palumbo Superyachts) launched its current flagship Dragon - the new 80-meter Columbus Classic - in Ancona.

Dragon is set to become the largest vessel ever built by Columbus Yachts, featuring impressive interior volume of over 2,100 GT spread over six decks.

The vessel with exterior and naval architecture by Hydro Tec and interior by Francesco Guida Design is to be delivered later this year.

Dragon joins the Columbus’ outstanding fleet of superyachts like award-winning Sport Hybrid 40 M/Y Divine and M/Y Eleonora 3, 54 meters M/Y Prima, 57 meters M/Y Taiba.

Among many distinguishing features, M/Y Dragon stands out for the 8-meter swimming pool with a counter-current swimming facility on the sun deck, the 200-square-meter beach club and the fully equipped wellness/SPA area on the fourth deck.

With 80-metre length and 13-metre maximum beam, Dragon can count on an internal volume of almost 2,300 GT.

Powered by twin 2,240 kW MTU engines she reaches a maximum speed of 16.5 knots and a range of over 6,000 nautical miles at an eco-speed of 12 knots.

The launch operation was performed using the brand new syncrolift of Palumbo Superyachts capable of lifting up to 3,300 tons. Commissioned in 2016 by a highly experienced owner and due to leave the shipyard in summer 2019, Dragon will make her worldwide debut at the 2019 Monaco Yacht Show.
