NASSCO Starts Building 3rd SEA-Vista Tanker

Ceremony signals the start of construction for the third SEA-Vista ECO Tanker to be constructed at the General Dynamics NASSCO shipyard in San Diego.

U.S. shipbuilder General Dynamics NASSCO signaled the start construction today for the third product tanker to be built for SEA-Vista Newbuild II LLC, a subsidiary of SEACOR Holdings, Inc.

The 610-foot Jones Act tankers are a continuation of the ECO MR Tanker design, offering improved fuel efficiency, reduced emissions and a ballast water treatment system.

Designed by DSEC, a subsidiary of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) of Busan, South Korea, the tanker’s ECO design achieves improved fuel efficiency through several features, including a G-series MAN ME slow-speed main engine and an optimized hull form. The tankers will have conversion-capable, dual-fuel-capable auxiliary engines and the ability to accommodate the future installation of an LNG fuel-gas system and tanks.

Once delivered, SEA-Vista will use the ships to transport crude oil and refined product volumes in the U.S.
