Solace Global, Bournemouth & Poole Partner for Security Education

December 10, 2013

Solace Global, provider of security in maritime, offshore and land-based environments, has partnered with Bournemouth & Poole College in Dorset to provide the first City & Guilds Maritime Security Operative course at a Further Education (FE) center.

Following the appointment of Training Director Mark Knowles MSM in October this year, Solace Global established its own training cell dedicated to developing premium courses at reduced costs. Committed to offering the highest standard of security personnel, Solace Global has launched its own City & Guilds Level 3 Maritime Security Operatives (MSO) course, the first of which will be held in January 2014.

The content for the MSO course has been mapped against the new maritime security standard, ISO PAS 28007, of which Solace Global was the first private maritime security company to be certified to by LRQA. The course will be launched alongside the First Person on Scene Intermediate (FPOSi) qualification and from July 2014, Solace Global will require all of its MSOs to obtain both qualifications.

Mark Knowles, Solace Global Training Director, said, “We understand that the industry requirement for security contractors to remain qualified is costly and constantly changing. The market is also saturated with low-quality training providers whose qualifications aren’t accepted by many of the leading private maritime security companies (PMSCs). The training cell at Solace Global has worked extremely hard to establish an audited list of providers and to develop our own courses that not only exceed industry standards, but are the most competitively priced in the UK.”

Solace Global has appointed experienced instructors to run the courses at Bournemouth & Poole College, a United Kingdom City & Guilds approved training centre. Matthew Butcher, Sales and Customer Account Manager at the College, added, “The College is delighted to be working with Solace Global to provide these industry courses. We have a real focus on the marine sector and supporting the whole range of skills the industry needs. Solace is the ideal partner for us due to their unrivalled expertise and commitment to deliver the standard of training our customers expect.”

Since its establishment in 2010, Solace Global has been leading the way in all aspects of compliance, legislation and standards in the maritime industry. It is one of the only PMSCs to hold the ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 accreditations as well as the new ISO PAS 28007 certification.
