Bollinger Shipyards Announces New Leadership

Lockport, La.-based Bollinger Shipyards announced that Ben Bordelon will assume the duties of chairman, president and chief executive officer of the company. Ben Bordelon, along with the Chouest family from Galliano, La., has acquired all assets and stock of Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. Bordelon has served in many capacities during his career at Bollinger, and has been a member of the board of directors since 2002. He has served as executive vice president of repair and most recently as chief operating officer of Bollinger Shipyards. Donald G.

Bollinger Delivers 11th FRC to the US Coast Guard

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. has delivered the William Trump, the 11th Fast Response Cutter (FRC) to the United States Coast Guard. The announcement was made by Bollinger Chief Operating Officer, Ben Bordelon: “We are extremely happy to announce the delivery of the latest FRC built by Bollinger, the William Trump, to the 7th Coast Guard District in Key West, Fla. The 154-foot patrol craft William Trump is the eleventh vessel in the Coast Guard's Sentinel-class FRC program. To build the FRC, Bollinger used a proven, in-service parent craft design based on the Damen Stan Patrol Boat 4708.

LA Governor Jindal Appoints Bollinger's Barker

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal appointed James "Ray" Barker to the Louisiana Workforce Investment Council. Barker, of Raceland, is the Director of Human Resources at Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. The Louisiana Workforce Investment Council serves to develop a strategic plan to coordinate and integrate a workforce development delivery system to ensure efficiency and cooperation between public and private entities by advising the governor on the needs of Louisiana’s employers and its workforce.

Bollinger Shipyard Stalwart VP Dave Marmillion to Retire

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. headquartered in Lockport, La., inform of the upcoming retirement of its Vice President Repair, Eastern Division, Dave Marmillion, after 46 years in the shipyard industry. Marmillion’s retirement was announced by Bollinger’s Chief Operating Officer, Ben Bordelon, who said, “Dave has been an integral part of Bollinger’s growth and a mentor to many in the shipyard industry over the past 46 years. Marmillion started his shipyard career as a lifelong resident of the New Orleans Westbank area. He attended West Jefferson High School and graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University, Hammond, Louisiana in Industrial Technology.

Bollinger to Build 6 More FRCs for the USCG

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc., Lockport, Louisiana, announced the award of six additional USCG Sentinel Class Fast Response Cutters (FRCs). The U. S. Coast Guard (USCG) awarded a $255 million contract option to Bollinger Shipyards of Lockport, La., July 23, 2014 for the production of six more Sentinel-Class FRCs, bringing the total number of FRCs under contract with Bollinger to 30, with a current contract value of $1.4 billion. The FRCs acquired under this contract option are scheduled to be delivered in 2017 and will be homeported at various bases throughout the U.S.

The Raymond Evans, as well as the previous nine FRC deliveries, were proudly delivered on time and on budget. U.S. Court Case against Bollinger Dismissed

The United States filed a complaint against Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. in July 2011 based on allegations that "Bollinger knowingly misled the Coast Guard to enter into a contract for the lengthening of Coast Guard cutters by falsifying data relating to the structural strength of the converted vessels." Bollinger Wins 8th Consecutive SCA Safety Award

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. was awarded the 2012 “Award for Excellence in Safety” by the Shipbuilders Council of America for the eighth consecutive year. On April 11, 2013, The Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA) presented the “Award for Excellence in Safety” to Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. during the association’s Spring General Membership Meeting in Washington, DC. The Award for Excellence in Safety is given to member companies with the lowest Total Recordable Incident Rates (TRIR) based on a quarterly injury and illness survey conducted by the association.

Guarded Optimism for 2013 from U.S. Gulf Boatbuilders

Caveats and some doubts remain. Marine companies along the Gulf of Mexico will be busy in 2013 producing offshore vessels to meet expected growth in the region’s deepwater drilling sector over the next several years. Vessel repairs will be active too. Worker training will be stepped up to address a skilled labor shortage. And nearly three years after BP’s spill off coastal Louisiana, safety will remain a priority. But with the nation teetering on a fiscal cliff – which may spur tax increases and government spending cuts – demand for official and military vessels could be affected…
