With new projects on the drawing board and the sales ticker counting higher, 2014 was bound to be a milestone year for Kadey-Krogen Yachts. Today the company is happy to announce their 600th new boat sale, a Krogen 44’ AE, to two new members of the Kadey-Krogen family of owners. Kadey-Krogen Yachts also thanks and congratulates Greg Kaufman, Kadey-Krogen Yachts sales executive, who produced this record sale.

“Who would have thought that when the late naval architect and designer James S. Krogen doodled the first version of a Krogen 42’ on a napkin for Art Kadey it would result in Kadey-Krogen Yachts that would sell 600 yachts? While 600 is just a number, this achievement is perhaps a timely reminder for us during this holiday season to be thankful for the founding partnership and Jim’s timeless design,” said Larry Polster, partner, Kadey-Krogen Yachts. “Jim was a master of merging the tried and true with fresh, innovative concepts, creature comforts and convenience, and we continue to maintain his values.”

Today’s generation of Kadey-Krogen trawler yachts stems from their 38-year heritage of principled innovation, and their new models and design changes are led by naval architect Dave Glasco and the Kadey-Krogen in-house design team. Glasco is a University of Michigan alum and graduated from the same prestigious Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering program as Jim Krogen.

“How appropriate it is that the 600th new Kadey-Krogen to be built is a Krogen 44’AE,” said Kaufman. “It goes to show just how right Art and Jim’s original 42’ design was, that after nearly 40 years, it still resonates well with cruisers.”

Production will begin next month at Asia Harbor Yacht Builders in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and delivery is slated for fall 2015. Kadey-Krogen Yachts has been in partnership with Asia Harbor for more than 25 years and Tom Button, partner, says of the company, “They employ both second-generation management and construction employees, and the work ethic and attention to detail of the men and women we entrust with building our yachts far exceeds our customers’ exacting expectations.”
