MSG Contracts with Imtech to Cover ECDIS Training

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

October 13, 2011

MSG MarineServe GmbH contracts with Imtech Marine to cover their ECDIS training requirements worldwide.

MSG is pleased to announce that it has reached agreement with Imtech Marine for the provision of ECDIS training services worldwide.   Imtech had already reached agreement with MSG’s sister company, Safebridge, in March 2011 to entrust them with the creation of an E-learning training platform linked to their own ECDIS software for internet delivery;  this new agreement now entrusts its complete equipment training obligations to MSG and its worldwide support organization, ETC (ECDIS Training Consortium).   Imtech was attracted to the ETC initiative because of its ability to meet the multi-locational nature of the demand for training and at a commercially viable price.

MSG has many years’ experience in delivering ECDIS training from both fixed and mobile classrooms and can now offer, through central, server-based, courseware, a standardized product for delivery through its ETC training partners in the key service locations worldwide.   This approach guarantees the quality and consistency of the training whilst providing Imtech with the transparency required on the content.   MSG will also provide course certification and trainee database services for reference by Port State Control and other concerned authorities.

The Imtech Marine SeaGuide ECDIS works as a generic system but also includes the additional features of radar overlay, ARPA targets, AIS interface and integrated conning. The SeaGuide is a latest generation ECDIS fulfilling current performance standards and features a fanless embedded computer with a solid state hard disk and a trouble free LINUX operating system.  An intelligent data concentrator, a LAN based architecture and a wide range of monitors complete the system.
