A fire erupted aboard the 9,030 TEU containership CCNI Arauco berthed at the port of Hamburg, causing injuries to three workers.

Hamburg police reported that the blaze broke out aboard the 300-meter Liberian flagged vessel while in harbor around noon local time.

The fire, which according to initial reports was said to be caused by welding work aboard the ship, is being battled by fireboats as well as firefighters on the ground.

The injured workers are being treated in a nearby hospital.

There have been no reports of hazardous material leaking from the vessel.

CCNI Arauco was built by Hanjin Heavy Industries in 2015 and is owned by German company NSC Holdings.
