Gazprom Constructs Sports Complex in Stavropol
Stavropol hosted today a groundbreaking ceremony of a versatile sports & recreation complex of Gazprom.
The sports & recreation complex will include a 50 meter Olympic swimming pool, a versatile gym, a hall of martial arts as well as training grounds. Both amateur and professional athletes, children and adults will be able to comfortably train in the complex. In addition, the implementation of the Gazprom for Children program will go on in the region. “Sixty sports facilities, including ten versatile children’s sports grounds opened in 2014, already function in the Territory within this social project,” said Alexey Zavgorodnev.
Taking part in the ceremony were Valery Golubev, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Vladimir Vladimirov, Acting Governor of Stavropol Territory, Yury Bely, Chairman of the Stavropol Territory Duma, Alexey Zavgorodnev, Director General of Gazprom Transgaz Stavropol, Andrey Dzhatdoyev, Mayor of Stavropol as well as sports veterans, members of the public and trainees of sports schools of the Territory.
“The Stavropol Territory needs such a facility very much," said Vladimir Vladimirov, . "Though there are no major sports complexes in the region, Stavropol citizens get Olympic prizes, win at world championships. I am sure that this complex will help our children to become champions and glorify the Stavropol Territory, Gazprom and our enormous Russia."
“The Stavropol Territory is an important region for gas workers. The new sports & recreation complex will be created for the citizens to have a real opportunity to go in for sports regularly and cultivate the spirit of winners in themselves – the spirit aimed at the victory over oneself and all the challenges we have in life,” said Valery Golubev.
