Seaspan Signs Contracts for 2 Vessels
Hong Kong-based container ship company Seaspan Corp. has signed contracts for two 2500 TEU vessels from Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Co. at an expected delivered cost of $46.4 million per vessel. Seaspan said the two new orders, scheduled for delivery in March and June, are on top of the eight 2500 TEU vessels it ordered last year from Jiangsu. The company said it has arranged simultaneous 10-year charter agreements for the two vessels with Japan's Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd. at a daily rate of $17,880. Seaspan said it expects each new vessel to contribute between $4.5 million and $4.9 million in annual earnings before interest, taxes and other payments. Source: AP
Havila and Subsea Sign Contract
Havila Shipping ASA and Phoenix International, Inc. signed a 10-year contract, with additional option years, for the newly built SubSea Construction Vessel, Havyard 858. The vessel is scheduled for delivery from Havyard Leirvik during the summer of 2008, and will support oil and gas industry initiatives in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Wärtsilä Wins Bulk Orders for 72 FPPs
The propeller manufacturer and joint-venture company Wärtsilä CME Zhenjiang Propeller Co Ltd signed contracts in November to deliver a total of 72 fixed pitch propellers (FPP) at a value of approximately EUR 30 million. The company will deliver the propellers to six of China's leading shipbuilders for vessels due to be delivered between 2009 and 2011. NOL Group Signs Contracts for Containerships
NOL Group confirmed it has signed contracts with Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co., Ltd to build 12 new container vessels, including ten of its largest vessels. Aker Yards and Color Line Signs Contract for Superspeed Ferries
The Letter of Intent for two Fast Passenger Day Ferries signed on 2 November by Aker Yards and Color Line will today be confirmed as a firm contract worth approx. EUR 250 million. The contract will be signed at a ceremony onboard M/S Color Fantasy in Oslo today, 11 am. The vessels to be delivered during 2007-2008 are intended for the Denmark-Norway services. The working title "Color Superspeed" indicates that the ferry is designed for a high service speed of 27 knots.
Aker Yards Signs Contract with Birka
Aker Yards Lifecycle Services and Birka Line have signed a contract for the refurbishment of the spa area on board the Birka Paradise. The contract is worth approximately $2.7m. DOF signs contract with international charterer for Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessel (AHTS) 'Skandi Emerald'.
