Alabama Shipyard to Build GulfMark PSV's

BAE Systems' Alabama Shipyard contracted to build Platform Supply Vessels for GulfMark Americas. GulfMark Americas, Inc. has selected BAE Systems’ shipyard in Mobile, Alabama to build two new platform supply vessels that will serve offshore drilling operations. The contract reflects continued growth in U.S. commercial shipbuilding for BAE Systems and a major step forward in the company’s support to the oil and gas industry. 

Each of the GulfMark vessels will be qualified under the U.S. Jones Act and will measure 288 feet long and 62 feet wide. The selection also includes options to build two additional platform supply vessels in the future.
 The design for the BAE Systems-built Green DP2 vessels will be provided by MMC Ship Design & Marine Consulting, Ltd. of Poland and will be based on similar platform supply vessels currently under construction for GulfMark abroad. The new vessels will be U.S. flagged and will support the anticipated future demand in the Gulf of Mexico offshore market, as well as other areas around the world as necessary.



Bay Shipbuilding to Build PSV for Tidewater

Fincantieri Marine Group (FMG) announced that its Bay Shipbuilding Company will build two 303-ft Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) of the MMC 887 LH PSV Design from MMC Ship Design of Poland for New Orleans, La.-based Tidewater Marine, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tidewater Inc. The Deepwater Platform Supply Vessels, to be built at FMG’s shipyard Bay Shipbuilding Company, located in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., will be state-of-the-art vessels with diesel-electric z-drive propulsion


Aker Yards to Build PSV for Island Offshore

Aker Yards has signed a contract with Island Offshore VIII KS, a company within the Island Offshore Group in Ulsteinvik, Norway, to deliver a UT 755 LN platform supply vessel. This is the 17th contract between the shipowner, Island Offshore in Ulsteinvik and Aker Yards. The hull for the platform supply vessel will be built in Romania and the vessel will be outfitted in Brevik. Delivery is scheduled for September 2007.


Tidewater To Purchase Platform Supply Vessel

Tidewater has signed a letter of intent to purchase M/V Ace Navigator from the Sanko Steamship Co. of Tokyo, Japan for $22.5 million. Constructed in October 1999, Ace Navigator is a UT 745 design platform supply vessel that is able to work in both harsh weather and deep water. Measuring 275 ft. (83.8 m), the vessel is rated at 9,600-bhp with full dynamic positioning capabilities.


Aker Yards to Build PSV

Aker Yards, via its wholly owned subsidiary, Aker Brevik, has entered into a contract with Island Offshore VIII KS in Ulsteinvik, Norway, to deliver a UT 755LN platform supply vessel. The value of the contract is approximately NOK 130 million. This is the fourteenth contract between the shipowner, Island Offshore Group in Ulsteinvik and Aker Yards and the third for delivery in 2005 between Aker Brevik AS and the Island Offshore Group.


Aker Yards to Build PSV for Farstad Supply

Aker Yards has signed a contract with Farstad Supply to deliver an UT 751 E platform supply vessel. The value of the contract is approx $45M. This is the 17th contract between the shipowner Farstad Shipping ASA and Aker Yards. The hull for the PSV will be built in Romania and outfitted at Aker Yards, Brevik. Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for July 2007.


Aker Yards to Build Farstad Supply Boat

Aker Yards has signed a contract with Farstad Supply AS, a company within Farstad Shipping ASA in Ålesund, Norway, to deliver one UT 751 CD platform supply vessel. The contract value is approx NOK 320 million. This is the 21st contract between the shipowner Farstad Shipping and Aker Yards. The hull for the vessel will be built in Braila, Romania and outfitted at Aker Yards, Brevik. Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for January 2009.


Labroy Wins Contracts Worth $47m

Aker Yards to Build PSV

Aker Yards has confirmed an optional agreement with Siem Offshore Inc for the building of two Platform Supply Vessels. The value of the contract is approximately NOK 275 million. Delivery is scheduled for second quarter 2007 from Aker Yards, Aukra. The vessels are of Vik Sandvik design, VS 470 Mk II. The vessels will be equipped with dynamic positioning, special product tanks, azimuth thrusters and accommodation for 34 persons.


Siem Acquires PSV Contract

Norwegian offshore vessels operator Siem Offshore Inc said that its 51%-owned subsidiary Siem Meling Offshore DA has agreed to acquire a platform supply vessel construction contract for NOK315m. The Vik-Sandvik VS 485 type vessel will be built at the Eidesvik shipyard in Norway, and is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2009. Siem Offshore is headquartered in Kristiansand in Norway.
