MERPAC Meeting

A working group of the Merchant Marine Personnel Advisory Committee (MERPAC), sponsored by the U.S. Coast Guard, will meet in Kings Point, New York on November 17 and 18. Medevac from Tugboat Near Kings Point

The man was medevaced after complaining of stomach pains while on board the 99-foot tugboat, , which was anchored under the Throg's . Maritime Administrator To Address USMMA Alumni Foundation

USMMA's Murphy Hall to get Refit

J. Kokolakis Contracting, Inc., , is being awarded an $11,412,000 firm-fixed-price construction contract for renovations at U. S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point. The work to be performed provides for the renovation of Murphy Hall, a three-story dormitory, and includes demolition and replacement of all interior finishes, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, intercommunication and fire protection systems. The work will be performed in , and is expected to be completed by Sept. 2009

MLL to Train 60 Cadets This Summer

For the past 13 years, Maersk Line, Limited (MLL) has hosted more than 900 cadets from federal and state maritime academies to sail aboard its ships. This summer, more than 60 cadets will train aboard 28 U.S. flag containerships and 4 pure car/truck carriers. Cadets will actively participate in all of the daily tasks necessary to safely and efficiently keep large commercial vessels working in international trade, while simultaneously fulfilling the United States Coast Guard (USCG) training
