Kvichak Contracted for Shallow Draft Tender

Kvichak Marine Industries, Inc. was recently awarded a contract by Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation (NSEDC) to build an all-aluminum 66’ Shallow Draft Tender to be used for multiple fisheries in and around Norton Sound, Ak.  Designed by Kvichak Marine, the 66’ x 25’ tender will be powered by twin Cummins QSM11 marine diesel engines rated for 450 BHP at 2100 RPM. The engines are coupled to ZF 360 transmissions that drive NiBrAl four-blade propellers.  Delivery is scheduled for the spring of 2014. kvichak.com  


Kvichak Names Kirby as Proposal Manager

Kvichak Marine Industries in Seattle Washington announces the appointment of Kevin Kirby as their new proposal manager.   Kevin has been with Kvichak for over 2 years as a project lead engineer.  His most recent projects include the recently launched 67’ Connor Foss Pilot Boat, a 54’ hydrofoil catamaran, the 30’ Rapid Response Skimmers and the Bridge Erection Boat prototypes currently undergoing testing by the US Army


Kvichak Readies to Deliver Catamaran

Kvichak Marine Industries is currently building a 54 ft. catamaran scheduled for a January 2000 delivery to California Fish & Game. Designed by Teknicraft of Auckland, New Zealand, the vessel is one of a trio of catamaran designs being built at the yard's new Seattle facility. Kvichak Aquires MARCO Pollution Control

Kvichak Marine Industries, Inc. acquired MARCO Pollution Control, a leader in the design and manufacturing of oil spill recovery equipment. Kvichak Contract for Navy MPF Utility Boats

Kvichak Marine Industries, Inc., of Seattle, Wa., was recently awarded a contract by the United States Navy for the construction of five each MPF utility boats following the successful delivery of 21 utility boats since February 2006.  The 40 ft high-speed landing craft are replacing the Navy’s existing LCM-8 craft as part of the Improved Navy Lighterage System in support of pre-positioned Marine Amphibious assault missions.


Kvichak Constructs Skimmers for Gulf Spill

Kvichak Marine Industries is currently constructing a run of approximately 30 rapid response oil skimmers fitted with Marco Pollution Control CL-1 Filterbelt oil recovery modules for customers responding to the Gulf oil spill. The Kvichak/Marco Filterbelt is suited for high volume recovery of the oil types encountered in this spill. Kvichak is expecting over 100 skimming vessels utilizing the Filterbelt to be in operation on this spill in the coming weeks


Manitowoc and Kvichak Marine to Develop and Construct Prototype RB-M for Coast Guard

The Manitowoc Company, Inc. and its subsidiary, Marinette Marine Corporation, will partner with Kvichak Marine Industries, Inc. to develop and construct a prototype Response Boat Medium (RB-M) for the U.S. Coast Guard. Kvichak, located in Seattle with full-service waterfront facilities, will build the prototype RB-M. The Marinette/Kvichak team is using a design developed by Camarc, Ltd., an expert in the design of water jet-driven high-speed aluminum boats


Kvichak Marine Delivers P/V Yellow Rose

Kvichak Marine Industries recently delivered P/V Yellow Rose, a 77.8 ft x 21.6 ft Pilot Boat for operation by the Houston Pilots on the Houston Ship Channel – the largest landlocked port in America.  The vessel is designed to operate as a pilot launch transporting pilots to and from a shore side dock and the Houston Pilot’s SWATH, and to perform pilot transfers to commercial vessels. Kvichak Marine Rapid Response Skimmers for Spill

Kvichak Marine Industries is currently constructing two 30-ft Rapid Response Skimmers. One Commercial Duty Skimmer with upgraded recovery systems is for inventory to support the current effort in the Gulf oil spill cleanup and available for sale. The second skimmer is for the U.S. Navy and will join over 70 Kvichak skimmers in Navy ports worldwide.   The rapid-response, shallow-water vessel is ideally suited for use on oil spills in waterways, bays, and harbors


Kvichak-built Hovercraft for Sale

The 95’ BHT-150 hovercraft SUNAX, built by Kvichak Marine Industries and owned and operated by Aleutians East Borough, is for sale through public competitive bid.  The hovercraft will be sold through a sealed bid process. An IFB package will be available May 15, 2014, copies will be provided upon request.  The bid due date is June 10, 2014.  The sale includes spare equipment/materials. The hovercraft is available for inspection by interested parties in Akutan, Alaska

The crew of Coast Guard Station Hobucken, N.C., received a 45-foot Response Boat - Medium Thursday, the 144th of 170 RB-Ms being delivered to the service. The RB-M replaces the 41-foot Utility Boat, which has been the Coast Guard's workhorse of the fleet for more than 25 years.
