Cat Provides Propulsion Systems for Scandlines Ferries
Caterpillar Marine Power Systems was recently selected to provide combined propulsion systems for two Scandlines ferry newbuilds. The two ferries will each be equipped with 5x MaK 9 M 32 C engines with Cat Common Rail. Each M 32 C engine produces 4,500 kW at 600 rpm for 22,500 kW of total power per vessel. The engines are optimized for smokeless operation and reduced nitrogen emission levels, which fulfill IMO II requirements.
MV Beluga Nomination Pirated in Indian Ocean
After four days of uncertainty regarding the exact status of the crew, MV Beluga Nomination is now believed to be pirated. On the afternoon of 22 January 2011, the MV Beluga Nomination was attacked by a skiff, with an unknown number of suspected pirates on board. Small arms were used against the vessel during the attack. The attack took place in the Indian Ocean, 390 nautical miles north of the Seychelles.
Northrop Grumman-Built William P. Lawrence Super Trial
Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Aegis guided missile destroyer William P. Lawrence (DDG 110) successfully completed her combined super trial last week in the Gulf of Mexico. The successful sea trial paved the way for delivery to the Navy in the next six weeks. The company's 28th destroyer is being built in Pascagoula. "I'd like to congratulate the team for a very successful acceptance trial," said U.S. Navy Capt. Bill Galinis, supervisor of shipbuilding, Gulf Coast.

Van der Velden Delivers Largest Ever BARKE Rudders
