Gall Thomson Confirms Known 2023 Marine Breakaway Couplings Activations

Gall Thomson has revealed there were 16 known activations of its Marine Breakaway Couplings during 2023. The activations occurred in nine different countries around the world.On each occasion, the Marine Breakaway Coupling (MBC) operated exactly as expected. Oil spills, injuries and damage to assets such as vessels, hoses or facilities was avoided. PetroChina Loads First Crude from UAE's Belbazem Field

PetroChina International 0857.HK said it has loaded 100,000 barrels of crude oil from the United Arab Emirates' offshore block Belbazem where parent company CNPC has a joint venture with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).This is the first equity output PetroChina lifted from the second-phase development of the field that began production in March and the cargo, loaded on May 26 on vessel Captain X.

Seatrium Secures FPSO Newbuild Contracts from Petrobras

Seatrium has secured a contract from Petrobras, acting as operator of Atapu and Sepia consortiums, for the newbuild supply of FPSO platforms P-84 and P-85.With the contracts valued at approximately S$11 billion, these high throughput FPSOs will be deployed in the Atapu and Sépia fields, located in the eastern part of the Santos Basin, approximately 200 kilometers offshore of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.The P-84 and P-85 platforms are part of Petrobras' new generation of FPSO platforms, characterized by a high production capacity that prioritize sustainable practices with innovative technologies.

Liza Unity is First FPSO to Earn ABS REMOTE-CON Notation

The ABS-classed Liza Unity has received the first REMOTE-CON notation for an floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) from ABS. The notation demonstrates the vessel’s alignment with remote-control functions and signifies that the design and construction of the offshore asset are assessed against and adhere to the ABS Requirements for Autonomous and Remote Control Functions.The Liza Unity is the second FPSO to be built for ExxonMobil Guyana’s Stabroek Block development and the first delivered under SBM Offshore’s Fast4Ward program.

One Dead, Two Seriously Injured After Fire Hit Pemex Oil Platform

Aker BP Restarts Production at Alvheim Field After Unexpected Downtime

Norwegian oil company Aker BP has restored production at Alvheim field, causing an oil spill during the process of starting up the production vessel located in the central North Sea. The downtime resulted from a malfunction in new equipment installed during maintenance activities in the previous quarter, causing a deferral of approximately one month in the production from the Alvheim area, Aker BP said. The oil spill from the Alvheim production vessel on November 29 occurred in connection with starting up the field following an unplanned production shutdown, where one well was producing.
